Andean School for Mountain Studies
(ASMS-home)

A key approach of The Mountain Institute to mountain sustainable development is strengthening the capacities of grass roots and small scale non-profit organizations that can have rarely access these services due to the remoteness of their settlements. A first aspect of our work is to improve and increase active participation of citizens in conservation or development projects hat area promoted by public or private agencies. A second aspect is the improvement of technical capacities of these local organizations in ecosystem management, sustainable tourism and institutional development. The program organizes training courses both as a service to TMI projects or other organizations. TMI's documentation and communication of its institutional learning and specialized studies on mountain issues is housed within this area of our program.
